September 2014 – The Survivalist Blog

September 2014 brings us a new Featured Website of the Month – The Survivalist Blog run by M.D. Creekmore.  The Survivalist Blog is a very popular website and has a very active community that supports each other in the comment section of posted articles.  You can find a wide range of preparedness articles on M.D.’s site.  Take a moment to read M.D.’s answers to the Featured Website of the Month questions and then visit The Survivalist Blog and M.D.’s new site – The Daily Collapse Report.

Summarize the focus and purpose of your website. – I actually, have two websites TheSurvivalistBlog.net and the Daily Collapse Report, however both are essentially “prepper sites” but each serves a different purpose in the preparedness community.

TheSurvivalistBlog.net is my “flagship site” and is more or a how-to-do-it type site with a large community, where people can comment and share information.

The Daily Collapse Report is more breaking news oriented and political and can at times be in-you-face. On most days, I update the site multiple times in an attempt to stay on top of the latest news and threats that would be of interest to preppers…

What made you decide to start a website? – Well, when I started TheSurvivalistBlog.net, JWR had the only really “notable” survival type blog, however he didn’t (and still doesn’t) allow any comments or reader interaction on his site, making it rather dull. So I went to work providing an alternative where people could form a community and share knowledge.

How long have you run your website? – Approximately 8 years – I started out on Google’s Blogger platform, then after a couple of years, I had the site moved to my own hosting.

How much time do you spend dedicated to your website? – On most days, I spend probably, 6-8 hours per day, everyday, seven days a week. Mine is a one person operation, and the time adds up. Most months I receive over 3,500 emails from readers, then there are comments to moderate, webmaster work, articles to write and edit, dealing with advertisers etc. It all adds up to a full-time job, that pays about minimum wage.

What is one thing you really like about your website? – The people and the community. My readers are great.

What is one thing that you want to change about your website? – While we have a lot of great product reviews posted, I would like to publish more of those types of articles, you know product reviews.

Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows. – I like brunettes… a lot.

Other than your site, what is your favorite non-preparedness websites to visit? – I would have to say Natural News.

Do you have anything (projects, special posts, redesign) in store for the future of your website? – Not really, just more of the same only better.

What were the three books you last read? (Be honest) – Billy Creekmore a Novel by Tracey Porter, The Coming Economic Armageddon by Dr David Jeremiah and The Survival Group Handbook by Charly Hogwood.

What would you like to say to readers at the Prepper Website? – Todd is a great guy be sure and give him some respect. And Bookmark it!
