So how do you enter to win?

This is one of the easiest contest you have ever entered.  You can enter two ways, using Facebook or Twitter.

To use Facebook – Like us on Facebook and write on the Prepper Website wall, “I want to win in the Gear-Up for May contest.”  If you are already a fan on Facebook, all you have to do is write the phrase on the wall!

To use Twitter – Follow us on Twitter and Tweet “@prepperwebsite I want to win in the Gear-Up for May contest.”  If you are already  following us on Twitter, all you have to do is tweet the phrase.

When you use Facebook or Twitter in the above mentioned way, I will place your name in a drawing.  This will be an old school drawing…with the winner being drawn and posted on Youtube.  Yes, you can enter on both Facebook and Twitter!

Lastly, please take a moment to “Like” our sponsors above on their Facebook, add them on Twitter and check out their websites.  The items that they have donated our quality items…but they have so much more to offer on their sites.

The contest officially starts on May 1st! Shipping of prizes is in the U.S.A. only.  Arrangements for shipping outside of the U.S.A. must be made between the winner and the sponsor of the prizes.

Good luck!

Peace,

Todd

How do you enter if you don’t participate in the government surveillance tools of facebook & twitter?

@Frank – I know some of us in the Preparedness Community don’t use social media. I will take that into consideration on my next contest.

On a side note, I will have something else in the month of May that I will link directly to comments… Be looking for that in Mid-Late May.

    Peace,
    Todd

Good luck on the contests. I like others do not use Facebook or Twitter. I DO LOVE this site. I learn so much and pass this site along to others. Thank you!

Not a good idea running contests that require social media. There is a large part of the prepper population that do not use Facebook, etc. and you are excluding a large part of your readership this way. 🙁

Like several readers in this comments section, I do not use Facebook or Twitter; yet, would like to enter the contest. I enjoy what I learn from this site and so, tit-for-tat would like to give back. For a ‘prepper’ website to countenance the usage of any so-called ‘social media’ site such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn and so on is a contradiction in terms to say the least. Prepping by many definitions includes a sense of security protocols to be followed – exactly what is totally given up by the use of social sites. Please reconsider the need for, the dependence on, any such for any purpose.

    @ H of Bradenton

I understand where you are coming from, but I have to respectfully disagree with you.

Lately, everything that I have been reading has trended on the idea of “the more people who are prepared, the easier for the prepper.” OPSEC is a concern to a point.

I have learned a lot from following preppers on Twitter and #preppertalk.

I think the question is, who are you trying to keep info. from? You can keep as anonymous as you want on Twitter and Facebook. You don’t have to reveal where you live and anymore info. than you want on social media. The content that you distribute is up to you.

If you are trying to hide from the government, the technology they have is really advanced. They can get your info…even if you use a proxy server. The only way to truly stay secure is go to a totally cash basis and stay off everything electronic.

I won’t change the terms of the contest in mid-stream. I feel that I wouldn’t be true to my word. I committed to the terms with the sponsors when they provided the prizes.

However, I have mentioned that the next contest, which will be in November, and in which I already have prizes lined up, will be based on comments and not on social media.

Again, I understand the concern with social media. I will work to recognize that concern and make a way for everyone to participate in the next contest.

    Peace,
    Todd
