“Zombie” Zip Ties

A warm Thanksgiving greeting to all survival enthusiasts. We appreciate your presence on our blog. In a post-disaster setting, restraining an individual may become necessary due to their harmful actions or panic response based on their drastic lifestyle change. A handy trick I’ve learned comes into use here – Zip Ties. A rather remarkable invention, zip ties can be used in lieu of rope to bind someone’s wrists. Depending on the wrist size of the person being restrained, you will need either 1 large zip tie and 1 small one, or 3 medium-sized ties. In my style of explaining things, I aim to be direct and to the point. So here’s how to execute the trick.

Cuffs (1)

1) Initiate by forming a large loop using a single XL zip tie or a pair of medium zip ties conjoined; depicted as the BLUE loop in the image. 2) Subsequently, secure it onto the individual’s wrists, ensuring their hands are behind their back. 3) Integrate an additional small/medium zip tie, ensuring it is placed over and between the wrists to connect the loops. This illustrates the RED loop in the graphic.

Employing this approach effectively neutralizes a potential “threat” using an uncomplicated technique. Furthermore, about five other comparable strategies utilizing zip ties can also be employed. For instance, you can alternate this method by binding the individual’s right wrist to their left ankle, although this might limit mobility. However, once the “threat” has been contained, your next action becomes imperative. Considering the volatile nature of situations, it’s crucial to decide what’s best suited to your circumstances. Stay vigilant, and until our next meet – Jiske-h (Ghost).
